What is the typical agenda or rundown in a counselling session?

In a counseling session, the agenda is typically set by you, the client, based on your individual needs and goals. The session typically begins with a brief check-in to discuss any immediate concerns or updates since the last session. From there, you and your counselor may explore specific issues or challenges you're facing, discuss thoughts and feelings, and work together to identify patterns or underlying issues. Your counselor may introduce therapeutic techniques or exercises to help you gain insight, develop coping strategies, or practice new skills. Throughout the session, your counselor provides support, guidance, and validation as you navigate through your experiences and work towards your desired outcomes. The session usually ends with a summary of key points discussed and a plan for any homework or follow-up between sessions. Ultimately, the agenda is flexible and driven by your priorities, ensuring that the counseling process is tailored to your unique needs and preferences.
