Generation Z & Generation Alpha

Young people from Generation Z (born mid-1990s to early 2010s) and emerging Generation Alpha (born mid-2010s onwards) face a unique constellation of challenges: digital overload, identity formation in a fast-changing world, social media pressures, climate anxiety, and intergenerational stress. We support young people (and their families) navigating these changes. Some common symptoms include:

  1. Overwhelm by social media: constant comparison, fear of missing out (FOMO), low self-esteem

  2. Anxiety or panic about school, performance, life choices, future-uncertainty

  3. Depression or flat affect: loss of interest, social withdrawal, feeling “stuck”

  4. Identity confusion: gender, sexuality, cultural background, “what do I do now?”

  5. Sleep problems: staying up late online, insomnia, daytime fatigue

  6. Constant distraction, difficulty focusing, digital multitasking overload

  7. Social anxiety: feeling less able to engage face-to-face, preferring online

  8. Loneliness even while connected online

  9. Existential worries: climate change, global instability, meaninglessness

  10. Family strain: generational gap, communication breakdown, being misunderstood
